In our fifth year, we are thrilled to announce that we have officially become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are looking forward to expanding our programming in the coming years to encourage more education about our waters and promote fishing in our community. Our tournament has always been about families making memories, keeping traditions alive, and starting new ones, all while enjoying being on the water and appreciating our natural resources. This year, we saw an impressive growth in the fish species, with more large fish logged than ever before!
This event is truly special because of the environment created by our participants, fostering fun, community, and positive vibes on the water. We always welcome feedback to refine, tune, and improve the experience. So, bring out your friends and keep the competition going strong!

Rules
Angling & Tackle
All fish must be caught on a hook and line in saltwater. No traps.
According to the state of Massachusetts, ”all recreational anglers are required to use inline circle hooks when fishing for striped bass with whole or cut natural baits, except when fishing with a natural bait attached to an artificial lure (e.g., tube and worm). The use non-lethal devices to remove striped bass from the water is required; gaffing striped bass is prohibited”.
Measurement & Submissions
Measurements to be taken with the fish on top of the official 2024 tournament ruler (photos without ruler will not be counted).
The Shore division indicates you caught a fish in a location accessible only by foot. All other fish caught in a location accessed via a watercraft are considered Boat.
Anglers must submit 3 photos of their fish using the iAngler app (see photo examples here)
1 full-length photo of the whole catch on the ruler
1 close-up photo of the head on the ruler
1 close-up photo of the tail on the ruler
Measurement submissions according to the state of Massachusetts “Striped Bass are measured in total length, which is the greatest straight line from the anterior most tip of the jaw or snout to the farthest extremity of the tail with the forks squeezed together.”
If you have issues with your submission the tournament director can submit on your behalf, please email your 3-photos and corresponding details to info@mbtsfishing.com.
Decisions of the tournament judges are final in all circumstances.
Administrative
MBTS Fishing Tournament reserves the right to use all photos submitted for use in event marketing collateral.
Registration
Registration closes on Wednesday, July 24 @ 5pm.
There are three age categories Kid (11 and under) Junior (12 and 17), Adult (18 and over).
Anyone is eligible to participate in this event.
Each participating Angler must register with a unique email address.
Anglers will need the ability to submit their catches either using the mobile app or from a desktop computer. Mobile app submission is strongly recommended.
Once you have completed your registration. Please reach out and let us know who will be on your logging Team. This will allow you to log fish on behalf of another angler from one account without having to log in and out, much easier we are told!
We strongly recommend having a team set-up for your group, for ease of submissions. Setting up a team still supports individual competition, but allows anyone on the team to submit via the app.
Individual angler registration is $25/person by June 30. Registrations will increase to $30 on July 1.
Rulers:
Official tournament rulers are required for all submissions.
All rulers must have a 2024 decal included in the photo. These will be provided during the captains meeting.
We encourage you to re-use your ruler from last year, however if you need a new one we will have them at the Captain’s Check-in
